Senior Oscar Night 2011
Watch below the beginning and first segment of West Ottawa's Senior Oscar Night 2011. It was a night not to be missed! If you missed it or if you want to remember it forever, WOBNers are selling DVDs of the event including backstage commentary for $10. Order your DVDs this week at the North Building Receptionist desk.
Prayer Club
West Ottawa Prayer Club meets on Tuesday mornings at 7:00 AM. If you wish to participate please meet with us in Mr. Norton's room in the South Building in room 108.
Yearbook Announcements
Anyone interested in joining the yearbook staff for next year (2011-2012) should pck up an ICON application from Mr. Drnek in the North or Mr. Strobel in the south.
If you have not yet ordered a yearbook - NOW is the TIME to sign up at either reception desk (North or South). We will sell any extra books for $65.00 cash on a first come first served basis starting the day after the books are distributed. There are a limited amount - So sign up as soon as possible. Books will be distributed the week of May 23-27.

ACT Sign Up Reminder!
Students wishing to take the June 11, 2011 ACT test should sign up by Friday, May 6 midnight. Go online to www.actstudent.org. If you miss this deadline, you may still take the June 11, 2011 test, but it will cost you an additional $21.00.
2011-2012 Student Senate
Are you interested in becoming more involved at school? Do you like the idea of planning events for the student body? The Student Senate is looking new members for the 2011-2012 school year. Please attend an informational meeting to find out what student senate is all about. There will be a meeting on Tuesday, May 3rd during seminar in the LGI room and another after school on Wednesday, May 4th in A261. Applications will be available starting Tuesday, May 3rd - you can get one by seeing Mrs. Freas (A203), Mrs. Luna (A261) or stop by either receptionist desk. For executive board and class officers applications are due Tuesday, May 11th and elections will take place on Tuesday, May 17th. For class senator positions applications are due Tuesday, May 17th and elections will take place on Tuesday, May 24th.
Cap and Gown Make Up Day
Attention Seniors: If you were unable to make the April 28th Cap & Gown/Announcement distribution day, there will be a make up day on Thursday, May 5th, during both lunches in front of the North building cafeteria. Remember that any unpaid balances will need to be paid in cash, money order, or credit card. *Checks will not be accepted*. Admission tickets will be handed out and you will need to make sure you have fulfilled all of your obligations. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Houtman in the North Building or Mrs. Van Den Brand in the South Building.
International Cook Off
French, German, and Spanish Clubs will be having an international cook-off on Wednesday April 27th from 3:00-4:00pm in Room A121. See Frau Bell, Madame Frisinger or Señorita Salinas for more details and what foods to bring, etc.
Rotary Club Scholarship
SENIORS - Do you have a GPA between 2.5 and 3.2? The Rotary Club is offering a $1000 scholarship for students in this GPA range. Pick up an application in your guidance office and return by Wednesday, April 27! Don't miss this opportunity.
Trip to Spain
We’re going to Madrid and Barcelona next summer! Join us for an Informational and Enrollment Meeting for parents and students on Wednesday April 27th at 7:00pm in the LGI room in the North High School.
March of Dimes
Students can buy shirts for $5 each & hats for $1 each during lunch here at north. With a hat pin you are able to wear a hat all day THIS Friday! Students are also welcome to join us Walk for March of Dimes THIS Saturday at Centennial Park at 9 am.
Prom Tickets
Prom will be held Friday, April 22 from 8-11 pm at the Pinnicle Center. The cost is $30 per person. Tickets will be sold every day during lunch after spring break until the day of prom, when they will not be sold.
Talent Auditions for Senior Oscar Night
Talent auditions for Senior Oscar Night will be held in the LGI room after school today. It should mainly consist of seniors. If you cannot attend, please contact Mrs. Freas or Mrs. Luna.
Bowl for Change
Junior Achievement is hosting BOWL FOR CHANGE today at Century Lanes from 6-9pm. It's $15 for 3 hours of bowling and shoes. Come support March of Dimes and the future of all babies being born healthy. For more information, contact Junior Achievement at JA@westottawa.net.
MC Auditions for Senior Oscar Night
Seniors - If you would like to be an MC for Senior Oscar Night this year, there will be auditions in the LGI room on Tuesday, March 29th, during seminar. Please come with an intro. you have prepared for yourself and be ready to present in front of a small audience!
Literati Canceled
The reading club, Literati, is canceled for the remainder of the school year. You don't need a club to read though, so remember to keep enjoying books at home!
Register to Vote!
Have you registered to vote? If you are 18 or will be 18 by May 4 (not September 1 as previously announced), the Ottawa County clerk and area township representatives will be here to help you register. Register to vote on Thursday, March 24th during seminar in the north building commons.

The Specialty Marketing class at the Careerline Tech Center will be holding their fifth annual dress expo. It will be on Friday, March 25 from 9 am to 2 pm and Saturday, March 26th from 10 am to 1pm. They will be taking donated dresses from all over the community to sell and raise money for their DECA Chapter. There will be dresses for all ages. If you have any questions contact Jordan Taylor, Lily Chao, Mel Hamstra, Cece Crenshaw , Eric Taylor or Austin Rouwhorst.

Sole Aid
From now until March 18th, there will be a shoe drive to benefit the Children of Israel orphanage in Haiti. Make sure to donate your old shoes to the large boxes located near both building's reception desk. Shoes can be any size and type. Pink Out After Party
Student Senate will be hosting "The After Party", a casual dance following the Pink Out basketball game, Feburary 11th. The dance will be held in the north cafeteria after the girls game and will end at 11. The cost is three dollars, which will benefit the American Cancer Society. Please remember your ID!
Super Senior Day Rescheduled
Super Senior Day has been rescheduled due to the snow days last week. Now, it will be held this Thursday, February 10th, during seminar. Remember to wear your senior t-shirt! The senior survey is due then as well.
Luge Trip
French, German and Spanish Clubs will be going to the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex from 3:30 - 9:00 on Monday, February 7th to Luge and ice-skate outdoors. Get your forms and more information from your foreign language teacher. Please have your $25 and forms in by Wednesday, February 2nd to guarantee your spot.
Senior Announcements
Seniors, remember that this Thursday, February 3rd is Super Senior Day! Please remember to wear your senior t-shirt for the class photo. Also, remember to complete your Senior Survey. Snowball 2011
Snowball is tomorrow, January 15th. Tickets will continue to be sold today at both lunches in both buildings and after school in the North Building. They are $10 per person. Students should sign the back of their tickets and remember to bring their i.d.'s to the dance.
Stuff the Bus: A Success!
A special thanks to everyone who contributed to West Ottawa’s Stuff the Bus on December 11th! West Ottawa once again has made the largest contribution of over three tons of food and personal care items to the Community Action House this season. Thanks to the Student Senate and CTEE members, as well as the community who helped to make someone’s holiday season a little brighter!
